Here is some great information from a recent BlockBuster
VIDEO DVD customer survey:
87% said Online DVD rental was a more convenient
way to rent. Blockbuster say customer dissatisfaction with the
Royal Mail shows this to be a common misconception.
55% said they thought online DVD rental value was better than
in store. However this is only when customers rent more than 6
DVD’s in a month. From a Blockbuster survey, 5.5 million customers
in 2005 rented just 1-3 DVD’s per year.
40% said they had more choice than in store. While there is a
common myth that customers want a back catalogue of DVD’s - 41%
of Blockbusters Online customers rent DVDs which are 1-13 weeks
old.
Our Opinion.....
So is this the end of DVD rental offline stores? We believe the
answer to be yes. DVD rental is going online and the offline stores
have to be more competitive. There are hardly any benefits of
